June Mission Team Visit

In June, twenty-eight people from California, Texas, Ohio, and North Carolina made the journey to PCH. This team was able to accomplish so much. They brought new bibles for the girls who did not have one and thirty new board/card games were provided to each Home. The teachers on the team organized staff development for the Joram GM Academy teachers, art curriculum was designed and created for each grade level, lots and lots of art supplies were brought for the school and homes. Two new cabinets were purchased just to store all the art supplies, new water fill stations were installed on campus, the library reading/study room was painted and furniture was purchased, the water storage and fire-fighting systems on campus were restored, the weathered volleyball net was replaced, and the playground sand pits were
cleaned up and restored back to their original condition. During the day, the team organized activities for the school children, which included introducing the court game nation ball, making snow cones, organizing water balloon tosses, organizing a rocket launch activity, and they rented two bounce houses for the little children to enjoy. It was a buzz here every day.

It doesn’t stop there. The team organized craft activities and worship and praise times with our girls after school each day. They attended Sunday service with us, and took the PCH girls and staff on a three-day overnight field trip where the kids got to swim and go to a local amusement park. The girls all received a set of water goggles and pool play toys like squirt guns, which they loved. They have never experienced a water squirt gun before. Needless to say, many of the staff and team members got drenched by those squirt guns.

The team even provided a catered staff appreciation luncheon for the school staff and took the home staff out to a wonderful dinner one evening. Something we don’t get very often, if at all, because of the cost of eating out.

Probably the most amazing thing the team was able to accomplish, is they raised $30,000 to build a Community Center Building for our two Homes. We will finally have a place to adequately worship together, work on homework together, watch movies together, play together, and just hang out together during inclement weather days.

The girls enjoyed seeing their beloved mission team friends and bonded with them right away. It was a great show of love and care for our girls. To date the girls still talk about their experiences and use the items they received to play games, color in their color books, and work on additional craft projects left for them by the team. What a whirlwind...and so much fun for our girls! Thank you to the June Mission team.
