Home Visits
It is important, as is our duty, to ensure our girls stay connected with family and relatives if they have any. It takes a great deal of time and effort, but our Social Worker has been quite successful in identifying and locating relatives for some of our girls who initially came to us from the courts with no information about them; sometimes without even a confirmed name. When relatives are identified we must visit and personally evaluate the family and living situation. If we determine that it is a safe and loving environment, we then start with visits at PCH and after a time of building connections, we will allow home visits during school breaks.
Several of our girls visited their relatives during the recent March holiday. The first thing we did after school closed was to accompany them to their relatives to verify the living conditions. The girls came back home afterwards refreshed and reenergized after the time with their relatives. The photo here shows Mopiyan (left) helping fetch water at her relative’s village.
The girls whom thus far we have not been able to identify any relatives stayed at PCH. We were able to take these girls on a nature walk at Karura Forest. A very nice place and an activity the girls really enjoyed.
