PCH Girls Beginning College
This year, we are glad to be sending five of our girls to university and college institutions. Two of our girls will be joining a university, and three will be attending college. Education is the key to opening doors to their future and your thoughts, prayers, and financial donations have made this possible. The two girls joining a university are Diana Asiko and Damaris Wambui. Diana has been accepted into medical school at the Kenya Methodist University. She is the first ever PCH girl to pursue a career in medicine. We have previously had girls pursue careers in nursing, and now we have a girl pursuing medicine. Damaris Wambui was accepted at Garissa University where she will pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Community Development. Both young ladies have worked very hard to get good grades so they would be eligible for these Universities. Their hard work paid off!
Annserah Nyambura, Sheila Moraa, and Esther Wairimi will be proceeding to college. Annserah was accepted at Kiambu National Polytechnic where she will pursue a certificate in plumbing. Annserah is at the same institution as her sisters Sharleen and Irene who started there a couple years earlier. Sheila Moraa was accepted at Kabete National Polytechnic to become a laboratory technician. She has joined her sister Vivian Betty who is in the same institution. Having older sisters at the same schools has been a blessing. The older girls help them to assimilate by learning how to navigate the campus, learn how to budget and where to find needed items, and learn the rules of the institution. So far, those who have started their college studies have been adjusting well due to the support they provide each other.
Finally, we have Esther Wairimu, who will be joining Kericho Teachers Training College to pursue a diploma in education. This is historically monumental for us. It is where Dr. Githumbi trained to become an educator in his early years.
