How Does PCH Operate?
Providence Children’s Home is a term often used synonymously with Providence Ministries. Our ministry is comprised of two homes for orphaned or abandoned girls; 48 right now, a Kinder through 12th grade school called the Joram G. Memorial Academy (JGMA) with almost 700 students, and a clinic that provides health care for the entire campus population and local community. It is a big responsibility to organize and manage all these various operations with the utmost of integrity and Christ centered approach to everything. We are very proud as an organization to say that every dollar donated gets used entirely for the ministry. There are no moneys taken out for administrative costs because all administrative expenses are funded by our volunteer Board members or ex-Board members.
There are two Board of Directors; one in Kenya and one here in the U.S. Our two Boards work collaboratively and meet online the second Saturday of each month. Additionally, our two Boards meet together in person once a year to build personal relationships between the two Boards and do strategic planning.
We have several active committees comprised of both Kenya and U.S. Board members who have specific tasks and responsibilities. We have a Finance and Personnel Committee that oversees the budget and personnel matters for the school, home and clinic operations, a Home Committee that oversees and plans for our girls present and future needs, a Social Media Committee for maintaining our website and other promotional components, and a Building and Grounds Committee that oversees all of our infrastructure projects. There is a Kenya Board Chairperson and a US Board Chairperson who work collaboratively to unify, guide and lead our two Boards. We also have a Kenya Executive Director and U.S. Executive Director who meet regularly and strategize together. Please keep our united Board in your prayers as we begin a discernment process to discover where God is leading our organization into the future.
