Seven of our orphanage girls are now officially high school students! Not only that, they are in boarding school at Joram Gitau Memorial Academy.

The story behind the story is that eight years ago, these girls came to us destitute, desperate orphans, and they were not within a prayer of getting to elementary school let alone high school. It was such an emotional moment for to welcome them into our school, all seven of them. Sunday, February 5 was visitation Sunday, and Kagendo and her husband visited them as their official parents as far as the school is concerned. Kagendo woke up at 4 a.m to cook their favorite Kenyan food ( chapati) to take to them. She has fed them, taught them God’s Word, prayed with them, taken them to hospital whenever they were sick and done whatever mothers know to do for kids to turn out ok. This was a moment of great pride as these girls have reached what was a few years ago an unreachable goal.

Congratulations to the girls and thanks to their sponsors and the many donors who have made this occasion possible!

There are millions of children orphaned by HIV/AIDS in Sub-Sahara Africa. Over two million such chikdren live in Kenya alone. With your help Providence Children’s home can provide a safe, healthy and loving home to children in the Ngong Hills region of Kenya, about 30 kilometers west of Nairobi. In this Christian based environment, the children also get a strong educational foundation and quality health care through our school and clinic, that both meet the needs of the local and broader regional communities.
